Updates for our Phocas Farms CSA Family

We hope you're enjoying your Phocas Farms spring veggies.  We do want to share a few comments about some changes we've made to the handling of your produce.

  1.  The leaf lettuce is no longer being washed prior to  your pickup.  We have adopted this practice because it prolongs the shelf life of the lettuce.  So be sure to wash your lettuce thoroughly when you get home, run it through your spinner several times.  It can be stored in your refrigerator right in the spinner for a longer shelf life.
  2. You may have also noticed that we are not removing the tops from your greens.  The greens from your radishes, beets and turnips can be cooked and are quite nutritious.  Please check the recipe section of our website for some quick greens recipes.  For all you juicers, the greens make an excellent green drink.
  3. Due to the freezing temperatures which have continued to hit us well past Oklahoma's normal weather pattern, we have not been able to plant our outdoor summer crops.  We are hoping to be able to plant toward the end of this week (keep your fingers crossed). So sit tight and bear with us.  Your summer crops will be coming, just a slight bit later than past years.  You will continue to receive the cool weather crops as long as the temperature agrees with them.

We love seeing your smiling faces every week and truly appreciate your continued business.  If there is ever a concern or question, please don't hesitate to contact us.  Have a blessed day!

Summer hoop house vegetables, such as peppers and tomatoes, had to be covered during the recent frosts.
